Our History

The volunteer staff of the St. Clair County Chapter of the American Red Cross has been serving residents in St. Clair Country since 1917.  Our services are supported by over 780 volunteer staff members and one paid staff member.  Our chapter serves over 50,000 people in St. Clair County.

We have prepared logistically for disasters, emergencies, and several community programs - health and safety, blood collection, biomedical, youth, seniors, and Armed Forces Emergency Services - throughout the county.  We are proud to be an important life saving and changing organization in St. Clair County.

Our Mission

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to all emergencies.

Fundamental Principles

The Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are:

Humanity | Impartiality | Neutrality | Independence

Voluntary Service | Unity | Universality

Diversity Statement

The St. Clair County Chapter of the American Red Cross recognizes the cultural diversity of the Chapter's membership and the community in which it serves.  It is our expectation that our volunteers and paid employees will exhibit respect for all individuals with whom they come in contact.

Understanding and acceptance of the diverse cultural and ethnic background of our community will only serve to benefit everyone.  The St. Clair County Chapter of the American Red Cross will continue to provide opportunities for our members to develop awareness of, and sensitivity to, the variety of cultures and ethnic issues in our county.  It is our desire to improve communication with, and understanding of everyone we serve.
